Understanding adult literacy, numeracy and digital literacy

This course is the first of two in NALA's Literacy Awareness online series. The second course is 'Becoming literacy friendly'.

This course will help you to understand the experience and impact of unmet literacy, numeracy and digital literacy needs on adults in Irish society.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

• Describe adult literacy, numeracy and digital literacy, their causes and effects and the scale of literacy needs in Ireland.
• Understand the experience and impact of unmet literacy, numeracy and digital literacy needs on adults in Irish society.
• Identify the role of literacy in our lives and how it is linked to equality and human rights.
