What you will learn
 
This course focuses on key skills in reading, writing, maths and technology. There are six subjects:

· Reading
· Writing
· Listening and Speaking
· Pattern and Relationship
· Using Technology
· Personal Decision Making
 
What qualification you can receive

For each subject you complete, you will receive a Level 2 Minor Award from Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).

When you finish all six subjects, you will receive a Level 2 Major Award in General Learning from QQI.
 
How to get started

For Level 2 courses, you should have a Level 1 Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life skills and work experience.

This course will help you develop your skills in using a personal computer and current technology. 

When you are finished this course, you can take an assessment to achieve a Level 2 Minor Award Certificate in Computer Skills from Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).

For Level 2 courses, you should have a Level 1 Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life skills and work experience.

This course will help you develop your skills in using data in everyday life.

When you are finished this course, you can take an assessment to achieve a Level 2 Minor Award Certificate in Data Handling from Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).

For Level 2 courses, you should have a Level 1 Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life skills and work experience.

When you are finished the course, you can take an assessment to achieve a Level 2 Minor Award Certificate in Listening and Speaking from Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).

For Level 2 courses, you should have a Level 1 Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life skills and work experience.

This maths course focuses on patterns and relationships.

When you are finished the course, you can take an assessment to achieve a Level 2 Minor Award Certificate in Pattern and Relationship from Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).

For Level 2 courses, you should have a Level 1 Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life skills and work experience.

When you are finished the course, you can take an assessment to achieve a Level 2 Minor Award Certificate in Quantity and Number from Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).

For Level 2 courses, you should have a Level 1 Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life skills and work experience.

This course will help you recognise how technology is used in everyday life.

When you are finished the course, you can take an assessment to achieve a Level 2 Minor Award Certificate in Using Technology from Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).

This course will help you build your writing skills through personal and meaningful writing tasks. There is also a task in the portfolio section where you practice handwriting sentences. 

When you are finished the course, you can take an assessment and submit a handwriting portfolio to apply for a Level 2 Minor Award in Writing from Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).

For Level 2 courses, you should have a Level 1 Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life skills and work experience.

This course will help you prepare for your career.

When you are finished the course, you can take an assessment to achieve a Level 3 Minor Award Certificate in Career Preparation from Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).

For Level 3 courses, you should have a Level 2 Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life skills and work experience.

This course will help you to understand the role of computers in everyday life and how to use a computer safely in a learning or work environment.

When you are finished the course, you can take an assessment to achieve a Level 3 Minor Award Certificate in Computer Literacy from Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).

For Level 3 courses, you should have a Level 2 Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life skills and work experience.
